Overview of Downloading E-Zip Wizard and Your Family Heritage Templates
Every network is configured differently. We have no way to know how yours is set up. If you follow the directions below and still have trouble,
notify
me immediately.
In general, if you are using a computer at work, it is connected to a network. That network is accessing the Internet through a firewall. The firewall is probably configured to stop files with a virus, malicious software or worms from being downloaded over the Internet and spreading to all of the computers on the network - thus crippling the company computers. The firewall can not tell the difference between malignant software and non-malignant files such as our templates. Because of that, your company firewall may be configured to block all inbound downloads except that from pre-approved domains.
You may need the assistance of your network administrator if you have difficulty
with the following: -
accessing the download link in our e-mail (because the link will be de-activated)
-
downloading, opening and installing the e-zip wizard software (because the network is set up to stop all downloads
or installation of unapproved software )
-
downloading or opening the zipped template (because the network is set up to
reject all downloads)
Frankly, I would not recommend contacting the network administrator to help you
with a personal non-work related project. Keep your personal life personal. The ideal situation would be for you to use your home computer
or personal laptop or a stand alone PC not connected to the network for
downloading your template, the e-zip software and editing your keepsake. Be sure
to use your personal e-mail address on your order. If you can not do this and need a new link to download, just
let us know and we will send it to you. Use your personal, non-corporate e-mail address in your e-mail requesting a new download link. Be sure to put our address in your address book or buddy list so that you will receive the link e-mail.
If the download link you receive is deactivated (not click-able) look in that same e-mail. There should be a longer link to your template (two or three lines.) Just highlight the entire link text
beginning with the "http" up to and including the character preceding the " >
"symbol, paste it into your browser address window and hit the "Go" button. If you are not able to access the template
download page or the download link notify us immediately.
If you must use a networked computer to download,
try to download directly to a CD, diskette (for templates under 1.44 MB) or
a zip disk. Since the template is for your personal use, use your personal, non-corporate e-mail address in your e-mail requesting a new download link.
OTHER DOWNLOAD OPTIONS:
Use a computer or laptop in your workplace that is free-standing - not connected to the network. If the computer or laptop has a read/write CD-Rom, insert a blank cd and download directly to the cd.
If you own an external CD-RW (cd-rom read/write drive) with a serial, parallel or USB connection and your work computer has a serial, parallel or USB receptor, hook the cd-rom up to your computer, insert a blank cd and download the template directly to the cd. You will probably need permission from your employer or network administrator to do this.
If you own other external storage media such as a USB external hard drive, zip drive or floppy drive and your work computer has a USB receptor, hook the external storage device up to your computer, insert blank media and download the template directly to the media. Note: most of our templates are larger than a 1.44 floppy disk.
DOWNLOADING
ONTO A NETWORKED COMPANY COMPUTER:
1) First, locate the space assigned to you on the network. Create a folder in your space on the network and name the folder "Heritage." You will download everything into that folder in order to locate it later.
Do not download any of our templates to your desktop or the general
network area. If you do, you will not be able to find it.
2) Go to 'Start", then go to "Find or Search", and then "Files" or "Folders". In that top line type Heritage* and press "Search" or "Find Now". 'Expand your browser window to the maximum size. After the file appears in the lower section, check the column marked "In Folder" for the exact location of the heritage folder you created. Write down the all of the info in that column. This is the path to your workspace on the network. You will need it when you are ready to save the e-zip wizard and unzip the template file.
2) Go to the E-Zip wizard web site (http://www.edisys.com.) Click on the E-zip file you want to download (e-zip wizard) After you complete the form, tell them you are using it for evaluation purposes and select your download location (USA-Virginia or USA-New Jersey), the computer will ask you what you want to do with the file you are about to download. You will get a screen asking whether to open the file or save it to your hard disk. Select "Save file to Disk" (the default) and click "OK".
You should see the following on your screen:
 |
2) Next, the computer will ask you, where do you want to put the file you are about to download. You will get a new screen with the words "Save As" in the top left corner. Type in the path as you copied it from the Find menu.
3) You need to locate the Heritage folder then, download the E-Zip Wizard into it. Double click on the "Heritage" folder to open it. There will be nothing in the folder and the screen will be blank. Click "Save" and the process of downloading the E-zip wizard software into your "Heritage" folder will begin.
You should see all of the folders in your area of the network. For example:
 |
4) Finally, you are going to download the templates into the same new
"Heritage" folder. After downloading
E-Zip into the new folder, return to your download link page. Click on the link to your template and follow the same procedure above, downloading the zipped Family Heritage Template and the extra zipped files into the "Heritage' folder. When you are finished, the new folder should have at least two zipped files: one is the E-Zip Wizard, the other(s) should be your zipped Family Heritage Template. The General Instructions file is an html page. Click on the link and it will open the page in a new window. Go to the File" command at the top of your browser page. Select "save As" and save the page into the "Heritage" folder on your computer. Or, you can print it out using the "Print Me" button on that page.
Installing the E-Zip Wizard
5) You must install the E-Zip unzipping software before you can open your templates. Our templates will not open with any other unzipping software. When you are ready, find the "Heritage" folder into which you downloaded the zipped files. Double click on the "E-Zip wizard" icon to install it. Click "Agree" under the terms. The E-Zip program installs itself in the folder you named 'Heritage". Locate that folder on your hard drive and double click on the folder with the "Z" in the center. If the program asks you to associate all zip files with this program, say yes unless you have an unzip program you prefer to use for your other files.
There is no need to reboot your computer. Just go to the next step.
You should see the following on your screen:
 |
6) Open the E-Zip software on your computer from "Start/Programs/E-Zip". When the software asks "Which Zip file do you want to work with" go to C:\Heritage\" and locate one of the downloaded zipped templates.

For example, if you ordered the Reunion Book, you will see the following on your screen:
If you ordered other templates, each individual template will be showing in this box. For example: if you ordered the Memorial Templates A for Publisher, you will have four templates, two for Microsoft Publisher 98 and two for Publisher 2k, one for male, one for female. |
10) E-Zip will ask you where on your hard disk do you want to put the extracted files. Locate the "Heritage" folder you created earlier and extract it there. The name should automatically appear in the blank area under this question, right next to the C:\ type in "Heritage". For example, the path will be: "C:\Heritage". If it does not, either locate the folder by hand, or type in the location.
You should see the following on your screen:

11) Click "Unzip". When the process is complete, you will have the option of going directly to the new folder, or exiting the e-zip wizard. Click "Next" to go to the directly to your new "Heritage" folder. You should see the zipped templates and the unzipped templates as well as the original files you downloaded from the Internet. Click on the zipped template, respond to the copyright statement and extract the files into the "Heritage" folder.
The templates for Publisher 98 say "...98template" in the title. The templates for Publisher /Word 2000 have "2K" template" in the title. The Publisher templates have a small green "P" in the upper left corner. The Word templates have a small blue "W" in the upper left corner. e-ip wizard files have a green "e" in the center. The "readme" and 'general instruction" files have the big blue "e" in the middle. We've also included extra files our other templates.
Click on the template file you want and your copy of Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word will open automatically. Do a "Save As" and rename the template immediately!! Create a new folder on your hard drive in the "My Documents" folder, name it "Publisher Work" or "Word Work" and save the new document there.
