The colors on the page or layout may be
different than the above. However, it will have links to download each
of files that you ordered. 2) Click on
the Download button for the first template that you purchased.
3) Next, the computer will ask you, do
you want to run the file or save it. Select "save." You should see the following on your screen:

4)
Next you will decide where to save the file that you are about to download. You
can do this in one of two ways. Many computer users have a designated
file into which they put all downloaded files. Do so if this applies to
you. If not, It will be easier to find the
template file later if you create a new folder, name it
"Heritage" and download the template into it. After clicking
"Save" you will get a new screen with the words "Save As" in the top left corner. Click on the up arrow until the "Save In" text shows "My Computer".
Then, double click on your "C" drive to open it. You | Then,
all of the folders on your "C" drive.
|
5)
How to create a new folder then, download the template into it. Click on the folder icon (third button over) in the same row as the words "My
Computer" to create a new folder. Highlight the resulting "New folder"
text and type in the name of the folder as "Heritage". If the folder closes before you get a chance to type in the new name, click on it with your right mouse. Scroll down the list of options and choose "Rename". Type in "Heritage" and click outside the name box to complete. Then, double click on the "Heritage" folder to open it. There will be nothing in the folder and the screen will be blank. Click "Save" and the process of downloading the
template into your "Heritage" folder will begin. 6)
If you ordered more than one template, follow the same procedure to
download each successive template. When you are done, locate the
"Heritage" folder and the .exe file in it that you downloaded.
Click on the template .exe file to open it. You will see the following
screen.
Click
on the .exe file to install the template. Select "Run"
and follow the prompts.
 |
7)
) At the end
of the installation process, you will see the following screen: 8)
Click "Next" and follow the prompts. If you ordered a
collection that includes more than one template, it will install all
files but open only the READme file plus one template. If you ordered
just one template, it will open the README file and the template. It
will also add an icon on your desktop that links to either the template
or the READme file. At the end of the installation process, all of the
files including the template, the extras, a READme file will be in a new
folder on your computer named "Family Heritage Templates". The
installer will open the template and automatically start up the correct
software to edit the template if that software is on your
computer. HINT: It will be easier to find or backup your work files if you create a sub-folder within the "My Documents" folder for each
downloaded program and the files that you use the program to create ( i.e. Publisher Work, Word Work, Word Perfect Work, PhotoShop Work etc.)
Store the files you create in that location. Back up your work files regularly - at least once a month or so. Save them to a diskette, a separate disk drive, zip disk, portable drive etc. In the event of a computer crash, you will be glad you did.
